Colorado Safe Parking Initiative Welcomes First Executive Director
The Colorado Safe Parking Initiative (CSPI), founded two years ago by a grassroots volunteer group to address the needs of people seeking shelter in their vehicles, has hired Terrell Curtis as its first Executive Director.
Curtis, who served as Executive Director for The Delores Project for eleven years, brings to the organization deep expertise in working with people who are unhoused.
CSPI Board Chair Rochelle Brogan reports that Curtis will help CSPI as its reach expands to serve a wide range of Metro Denver communities. “We’ve developed partnerships and funding relationships with the cities of Aurora, Broomfield, and Denver, and with Adams County and the State of Colorado. Two potential lots are opening in Lakewood after their City Council voted to allow the model to be tested there. It’s time for us to take the organization to the next level of professionalism and action to serve our guests.”
Curtis expressed her enthusiasm for taking on this new role. "I am very excited to lead CSPI and its unique mission to support people living in their cars. CSPI fills a vital gap in services for people experiencing homelessness and I look forward to working with our board and volunteers as we expand to help meet this critical need."
